Por fin he retomado mi blog, un poco más tarde de lo que creía pero bueno, agradezco a los que aún conservan mi RSS en sus lectores de feeds y a los que todavía entran a este espacio con la esperanza de encontrar un post nuevo. A partir de ahora retomaré, tal vez no con ese “endemoniado” ritmo de antes, pero es seguro que cada tanto habrá un recomendado nuevo.

Llevo un poco más de un año, desde el deceso de los 3 netlabels de NetAudioRussia (electrosound.ru, Musica Excentrica, Share My Wings), esperando que suban a algún servidor tan bello material y que desafortunadamente no conservo. Es triste a veces lo efímero que puede llegar a ser este tipo de información y es triste tmbién ver como músicas tan hermosas están condenadas al olvido. Ese sin duda será el caso de este disco, el recomendado de hoy, que seguramente no permanecerá en el servidor de estos chicos por mucho tiempo, ya que la experiencia previa nos lo ha enseñado. Así que no pierdan el tiempo y descarguenlo ya.

Para placer de muchos y desgracia de otros el folk nunca pasará de moda, y aunque se que mi afición por el folk pueda ser similar a la que los extranjeros sienten por ritmos propios de mi región, no es algo que me inquieta mucho. Hay que aceptar y valorar la buena música, provenga de donde provenga. No queriendo decir que la música folklorica de mi región sea mala, porque no lo es, no siento tanta empatía por ritmos caribeños o vainas demasiado “andinas”. Así que como he dicho muchas veces, olvidemos las fronteras y simplemente límitemos la música a lo que nos gusta y lo que no.

Siento mucho el poco compromiso para con mi blog en los últimos días, pero es que vienen vientos de cambio y pues hay que definir prioridades a veces y pues el tiempo no da para todo.

Miasmah es un muy buen sello noruego (no estoy muy seguro su procedencia, si me equivoco me corrigen) que ha publicado diferentes tipos de downtempo, desde clicks & cuts hasta Ambient y que ha sido una permanente referencia desde hace ya 10 años. Aphilas, el artista de hoy, al parecer solo ha publicado este hermoso ep lleno de downtempo y ciertas texturas hip-hop. Luego de que este disco fuera publicado en Miasmah, Instrumentally ill ep fue reeditado en el ya desaparecido Merck. Ojalá este artista dejara el anonimato en el que anda y nos sorprendiera con otra bella obra

Celer es el proyecto de los esposos Will Thomas Long y Danielle Baquet-Long. Ambos, artistas integrales, han optado tomar juntos el camino de la música y más concretamente, el ambient. Con una discografía muy extensa, Celer ha mantenido una línea muy similar y el disco reseñado acá, uno de los pocos disponibles en descarga libre, es una muestra muy clara del sonido que manejan. Bells es una nubosidad absoluta y sublime, un día sin asomo de sol. Un sonido hacia el que perfectamente parece coger rumbo el darkwave y todos estos sonidos etéreos experimentales. Porque esto si es darkwave, no ese industrial pseudogótico que muchos siguen llamando de esa forma supuestamente por sus orígenes nowave y post-punk.

PS: El año pasado Celar publicó un disco llamado Nacreous Clouds. Hermoso, simplemente hermoso, busquenlo..otro consejo de su humilde servidor.

Confieso que el site de Hippocamp me parece lo peor, lo detesto. Un montón de información de discos regada por toda parte, sin ningún tipo de orden y sin darle a los artistas  el respeto y el lugar que se merecen. Además, me parece un desgaste hacer una portada si de la única forma que la vas a ver es en un tamaño de 80 x 80 pixeles. Por eso, alguna vez me prometi a mi mismo nunca reseñar nada de este sello hasta que no viera un diseño de site nuevo, pero parece que eso nunca va a pasar y pues como el disco que reseño hoy me parece lo máximo, no quería esperar más. Asi que me tocó tragarme mis palabras y abordar este disco que me parece una de las más grandes joyas que jamás haya estado bajo esto del copyleft.

Jonathan Fisher es un artista de Manchester, Inglaterra, que al parecer en esto de bios e información sobre él es igual de mínimo que su música. Asi que mucha información sobre él no puedo dar. Por eso decidí ser consecuente con el disco y definir en una línea lo que pienso de él.

Desiderata es uno de esos discos que se te aferran al alma. Con tan poco te dice tanto que de verdad te hace sentir especial, único.

Esto del internet es raro…viene una moda, se queda un tiempo y se va. Pero a diferencia de todas las modas en el mundo real, aquí se caen por su propio peso, por querer “innovar”, por querer cambiar algo que es bueno y exitoso. Parece que se aburren de que les vaya bien o tal vez la ambición, el querer más, los haga tomar estas malas decisiones. “La ambición rompe el saco” dice mi abuela y esto al parecer le va a pasar a mi queridísimo last.fm. Esta semana pasada decidieron cobrar una cantidad por la radio a aquellos que estuvieran por fuera de DE, UK o USA, bueno esperemos a ver como les va. Yo por ahora me limitaré a reseñar algo que conocí gracias a last.fm y que debido a la privatización de la radio, seguramente no volverá a pasar.

Massoni, cabeza del sello Audio:808, entrega para el sello Escala, una obra muy típica en él. No se si la música de Massoni quiera representar un estado de ánimo, tal vez no, pero si lo genera. Una sensación de frescura, de incetidumbre, de esperanza; y en la música y en especial en este tipo de música, es maravilloso tener estas sensaciones. Porque a veces tanta repetición tambien cansa y este señor en ningún momento deja que eso suceda

Espacios vacíos, dub techno, final de la tarde, bebidas, ambiente familiar. Tal vez esta sea la mejor manera de disfrutar este disco de Taschenrechnermusikant, un jóven alemán que sabe crear texturas y ritmos de baile, que sabe crear progresiones y sintes plagados de delay. Hace un tiempo, estuve pasando la tarde con mis amigos, en un conocido cerro de la ciudad.  Allí, comimos y bebimos mientras algunos de nosotros intentaban hacer la mejor de sus sesiones para el mejor de los públicos, los amigos. Yo no toqué aquel día, pero me arrepentí infinitamente de no tener conmigo este disco, porque habría sido perfecto, porque es el mejor sonido para el más divertido de los ambientes vespertinos.

Después de entregarnos en el 2008 ese bello disco llamado Sworn lleno de dub techno y clicks & cuts excepcionales, el señor Ilar decide regalar en su website otra bella obra. En twilight rainfalls, Ilar mezcla muy bien el estilo de sus eps anteriores en diversos netlabels con el de su sonido un poco mas dancefloor de su último esfuerzo. Un bello disco que bien valdría la pena hacer parte de algún sello, pero debido al poco interés de estos actualmente, obliga a los artistas a tomar éste no menos noble camino.

“Released on 23rd of December 2008 to celebrate the new solar year. The 8 new tracks on Twilight Rainfalls are based upon a meditative piano session recorded on October 19th 2008 in Ludvika. The recordings was later cut into parts and used as sourcematerial for the tracks. The initial idea was to make a very quiet ambient album with only some 808 rhythms to compliment the piano, however after the first track was finished (in light we trust) I realized that this would not be the case. The rest of the tracks was put together in the following weeks. The 9th track (althea) was produced some years ago using the sound of the very same piano.
As times are becoming rougher for many labels and distroes I realized it would be a long time waiting for a CD or vinyl deal for this material. And with things being as they are I believe the best way to spread these vibrations is in free digital format.
So realizing this work might dissapoint a few of my listeners, atleast now you know the story behind the music and its intention is simply to be what it is (music), while hopefully inspire the listener to raise the frequency of love on this planet.

Hay música que no tiene época, que sin importar en que período de tu vida la escuches siempre será refrescante. Eso pasa con este disco de Ian D Hawgood, música que aunque puede ser enmarcada dentro de ese amplio paquete llamado ambient, está muy distante de simplemente ser catalogada bajo un género y ya. Va mucho más alla de cualquier convencionalismo, va mucho más allá de ciertas modas y eras.
