Que complicado que se hace a veces hablar de música. Es fácil hablar mal de un disco que poco te llega pero cuando de ensalzar obras que te tocan el alma se trata, se terminan los adjetivos y la cosa se pone color de hormiga. Eso me pasa con este esfuerzo de Renu, ya que como su reseña oficial lo indica se trata de downtempo, pero no un downtempo convencional. No es de ese tipo de downtempo que me ponga melancólico y contemplativo, es más de ese que me pone de buen genio y con ganas de hacer cosas. Es de ese downtempo que me pone productivo,  de ese downtempo que genera adicción.

PS: busquen el disquito en U-cover, es igual de recomendable

“Reza Nugraha, the name behind Renu, was born and raised in Indonesia and now resides in Calfifornia. His bold style is evident in “Hello How are You” and displays a strong hip-hop influence. With heavy, rythmic beats layered atop warm synths Renu easily creates some chilled down-tempo tracks.

Each song on the EP is complemented by one other adding to the overall flow. Short vinettess such as “Twotwentyfour” are added for nice breaks and demonstrate his exquistite senibilty for ambient tones. “Come in and Sleep with the Moon” mixes his urban style with a more familiar nostalgic sound.”

Que sorpresas tan agradables me he llevado esta semana, primero con el disco anteriormente reseñado y con otras tres joyitas con las que me he tropezado. Eso me indica claramente que esto de los netlabels va para arriba no solo en cantidad sino en calidad.
Que hermoso disco, si, otro compilado, pero eso que importa porque ni tan compilado es. Es un disco de remixes de gente de la talla de Machine head o fieldtriqp. Downtempo, pads, beats quebrados, underground hip hop, IDM y un aroma a disco íntimo que creía la verdad ningún disco con tanta gente envuelta pudiera tener. Pero es que Milieu hace sonar cada tema que reinterpreta de una forma tan coherente, tan bien elaborada que parece mentira que no sean temas propios. Milieu nos hace creer definitivamente que un tema nunca está terminado; que cuando el artista decide detenerse sólo presenta una versión de esa obra y que es necesaria la intervención de alguien más para darle una trascendencia mayor a lo ya escrito.

“Wasted Magic in the Sound cohesively bonds thirteen different artists together in thirteen Milieu mixed tracks. Brian Grainger applies his distinctive style and reinterprets each song accordingly resulting in a well rounded and entertaining release.

A slightly mischievous remix of Electricwest’s “Night Shift” is deeply layered with soft drones and remarkable percussion that add to the tracks mysterious feel. Fieldtriqp’s “In Flight” is slightly dissolved but still enriched by textural melodies that reverberate in the distance. The cover of Black Moth Super Rainbow’s “Lake Feet” sonically drifts through tangible ambience with a lonely acoustic melody and appealing down-tempo beat.

Milieu’s remixes have redirected sonic inertia and contained it into Wasted Magic in the Sound. Our most respectful thanks go out to all the artists who have contributed to this release.”
