Cansado un poco de reseñar tanto disco downtempo y ambient, he decidido pasar a algo un poquito más fuerte. En este caso heavy industries nos trae a Ceroform, un duo alemán que se preocupa por traernos esa un poco olvidada ya. esencia del tecno. Y aunque el track que lleva el nombre del ep es el que tal vez menos me gusta por su excesiva ( a mi juicio personal) dósis de arpegiadores, lo reseño por joyas como HiCon que fácilmente podría ser single de cualquiera de esos sellos que solíamos escuchar a finales de los 90. Buen hallazgo, con ese delicioso sabor a clásico.

” Our first release for 2006 is the much-anticipated EP from Bochum, Germany residents, Björn Bommersheim and Bastian Götz, under the project title Ceroform. Their style can best be described as a mix between dancefloor-conscious and atmospheric, the type of techno you can throw into just about any set. We begin this versatile 4 tracker wtih the title track, Vicious Mind. Bittersweet melodies sit against deep consistent percussion at a laid back tempo. The tight yet breathable production makes it easy to mix where you want, but it’s perfect for the end of the night. Wellen Schieben Welten follows more on the minimal tip, led by a vocoded German voice and quirky synths. Definitely a very original style in this one. HiCon brings us back to more typical Heavy Industries territory with sharp, hard, straightforward beats. Continuing to play with chord stabs, delays and swirling effects, Ceroform gives us a very workable number with enough uniqueness to set it apart from the typical looped club track. Finally we end the EP with a deep, clubby remix of Vicious Mind. This one is more suited to that peak hours moment and introduces some new synths and percussive loops. It’s still around the original tempo though so it remains suitable for house or techno crowds.

This is one of those rare EPs you find online that has exactly the right amount of danceability and also attention to detail. We want to thank the Ceroform team for hooking us up with these tracks and we’re honored to have them available to the public.”

Se que me he vuelto un poco pesado y homogéneo reseñando discos que siguen un género muy parecido, pero que se le va a hacer. Afrontemoslo, las verdaderas gemas en el mundo del netlabel están enmarcadas en el downtempo y especialmente en los sonidos mas ambient y atmosféricos.
Más texturas, más ambientes, mas landscapes, pero esta vez acompañados de pasajes de silencios que le dan una fuerza especial a este disco. Herzog (no nos dejemos llevar por este apellido que a algunos, especialmente en mi caso, puede matarnos del tedio y el aburrimiento) interpreta 5 tracks enmarcados en un cierto atractivo casi atemporal. A primera vista da la impresión que este disco hubiera sido grabado y luego reproducido al reves para llegar a ese sonido final tan hipnótico y apacible.

Hace tiempo he querido reseñar este disco por diversas razones y por fin lo hago hoy. Receptor es el proyecto de Jorge Cortés que al igual que Arévalo es otro que ha contribuido mucho con el mundo de los sellos en línea. Viaje, a diferencia de otros discos publicados en sellos como sinergy o su propio sello Ojo de apolo donde explora sonidos orientados mas hacia el minimal y el clicks & cuts, es un disco tranquilo basado mayormente en grabaciones de campo realizadas durante los viajes que Jorge Cortés hizo en el 2004 . Viaje es un disco de un solo color pero de un atractivo inmenso.

“Jorge cortes from santiago de chile (.cl) takes us on a musical journey reflecting his travels in 2004. starting at the paradise beach “con-con” in valparaiso, they lead him to various countries in europe and ended up in southern italy. in these days, the graphic designer always found enough time for siesta and composing music. at the italian “interferenze festival” he played alongside with mikael stavöstrand, luomo, rechenzentrum and c. bonarelli this year. with his laptop he performed in santiago at museo de belias artes, universidad de chile, universidad de santiago and in buenos aires at museo de ciencias naturales before.

Besides running the label ojodeapolo.cl, he produces under the name “cancer” and released an album called “product” on cronica. under receptor he concentrates on more minimal soundscapes and micro-ambient, and released on comatronic.net and sinergy-networks.com.

Bueno, ya iba siendo hora de reseñar a Gastón Arévalo, por su cantidad de aportes al mundo del netlabel en sellos como flumo, tropic y cyan, y que mejor forma de hacerlo que reseñando su disco bajo el seudónimo de Saurio en el querido sello uruguayo monteaudio. Música mínimalista alejada de la pista de baile, tracks espaciados con ausencia casi total de melodías, a excepcion de uno que otro pincelazo en el momento justo. Un ep de largo minutaje para solo contener 4 tracks, pero que no significa un disco aburrido ni mucho menos. Es más un disco tranquilo y apacible, perfecto para el mejor de los momentos.

“Gastón Arévalo is a musician and remixer, who has been experimenting with machines for several years now under the Saurio moniker, in search of sound and image atmospheres, texture, ambient pads, organic sounds and minimalist beats, creating a surrounding and soulful aesthetic.

He has participated in festivals, global projects related to net-art and audio-visuals, and also in joint projects and re-versions, released in various labels. In his live set he goes for experimentation and improvisation, creating deep ambience and slow rythms.”
