Considerado por muchos el mejor disco online del 2005, sonmi451 reedita algunos de los tracks de un CD publicado en u-cover llamado “Vladivostok” bajo el nombre de “the quiet EP”.

Como su nombre lo indica, se trata de música tranquila, envuelta en una especie de poesía auditiva llena de acordes menores, dub, ambient y voces manipuladas. Música instrumental que emociona y hace soñar. Una música como muchas otras, que a fuerza te muestra que tienes sentimientos y que vale la pena vivir si de escuchar este tipo de discos se trata.

“It’s a delight to welcome Belgian artist Bernard Zwijzen, aka Sonmi451, a veteran of release of real-life labels such as U-Cover, to Monotonik with his rather divine 4-track release, ‘The Quiet EP’, which artfully blends ambience and melody in some delightfully beguiling ways.

The EP, which includes both tracks from Sonmi451′s super-limited edition U-Cover CDR ‘Vladivostok’, as well as new material, starts out with the title track from that CDR, which is ambient drift incarnate, before moving on to ‘Inner Structure’, which uses loops and an almost triphop aesthetic, with gently trilling voices and tinkling rustles spreading slowly all over the dial.

Things finish out with ‘Quiet Piece For Bram’, which swells and swells to awesome heights of rotating ambience, before ‘Dilating’ delves all the way into clickhouse, with some gorgeous percussion and chord rumbles – a fitting end to an excellent EP.”

Es época de fiestas decembrinas, de música de baile tropical en mis tierras y pues qué mejor que recomendar música de baile de la que estoy seguro que nos gusta. Proveniente de este sello sueco que no se por qué hace mas de un año no publica nada en su sección de musica de baile (y hace 8 meses en su sección principal), viene este disco de Özgur Can & Dumb Dan. Bloody mary es un coctel de tech house a la vieja usanza, teclados electro y un poco de grano actual. Un sonido aunque un poco trivializado actualmente, muestra que aun puede seguir dando para un buen rato más. Con dos remixes, uno muy similar al original de Patric Siech aka Cryo y otro de Kontraform, mucho mas orientado al dub techno, se completa esta tripleta de tracks muy propicia para una excelente noche de navidad bailando sin parar.

Qué difícil es para algunos digerir eso del hip-hop instrumental, o mejor dicho, qué difícil es para muchos digerir la música instrumental. Soy un ferviente creyente de que la música no necesita palabras de ningún tipo para expresar sentimientos. La música por sí sola puede remitirte a una infinidad de sensaciones y recuerdos. Ella misma puede tambien ser sensible a eventos y elementos multiculturales, o acaso necesitamos escuchar un MC sobre la pista para saber que se trata de hip-hop.

Escuchamos a diario música para abstraernos de ciertos problemas, alegrarnos, ponernos tristes o lo que sea. Ella sola logra hacer eso y más por nosotros, ella sola. Entonces, ¿por qué llegar a ese punto de demeritar algo que no tiene líricas? Repitiendo algo que hablaba este fin de semana con un querido amigo acerca de las malas letras que suelen escribir los músicos en mi ciudad, si no tienes nada sensato, interesante y nuevo para decir simplemente no lo digas. No necesitamos más letras de canciones que digan hasta el cansancio: “Inalienable libertad”.

Por eso, y remitiéndome ya al disco en cuestión, me parece super agradable como Violent Public Disorderaz eliminan ese aspecto muchas veces grotesco en el hip hop y se centran (como muchos ya lo hemos hecho) en lo realmente importante a la hora de hacer música, la música. Un agradable viaje por patrones simples, bajos gruesos y pads texturizados que te hacen pensar inclusive en el mejor Dj Cam.

“Sadness In Square is probably the roughest release on lo-kiwi so far – but damn how groovy it is. The sounds aren’t too polished up, the beats make your head nodd and song concepts are solid trought out the ep. Just the way you like it. It’s always nice to have such a fine guest release. ”

Generalmente la primera entrega de un sello siempre suena a primerizo, con un sonido a veces descuidado y del que posteriormente se siente algo de vergüenza. Ego twister nos dice que la excepción hace la regla al editar como su primer disco, 26 temas llenos de sampladelia, muzak, easy listening y demás frases musicales conocidas por aquel que ha vivido algunos lustros en esto que llamamos tierra. Manejado tras los conceptos de deconstrucción y permutación en los palíndromos, Vernon Lenoir nos muestra de una forma entretenida todo ese universo musical tan importante y del que muchos a veces denigran.

“One thing the people often misunderstand when they plan to use the palindrome as a metaphor is the meaning of fate.
Fate or fatality as the superlative of determination means that there is no chance of turning to another solution.

Mucho folklore, si, mucho. Pero con un poquito de electrónica y con un poquito más de jazz. Parezco dando una receta pero esto de receta pop no tiene nada, son sólo los ingredientes de este disco y que buen disco. Georg Hekt, nacido en Bulgaria pero residente en tierras germanas desde hace ya algunos años, emplea técnicas de composicíon de música electrónica y del jazz sin pisar en falso en esos escabrosos y áridos terrenos de la fusión. A mi parecer, el mejor disco de Georg Hekt trio, quartet, quintet o como se quiera llamar; confeccionado sin mayores pretensiones en un netlabel apenas creciente.
